About Lisa and Jack
Lisa Farrier, CFP®
Lisa graduated Magna Cum Laude, majoring in Finance, at the University of Colorado. She earned her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in 2010 and has over 21 years of experience in financial planning, 9 of these years working with a CPA. She is one of the few fee-only women financial advisors who holds a CFP® designation in the state of Nevada.
On the personal side, Lisa truly cares about other people and was drawn to this profession as it allows her to create long-term relationships and help others. She enjoys listening to clients’ individual needs and then figuring out how she can best help them. She has always had a knack for numbers and a passion to continually learn. Financial planning combines her love of working with people with her love of numbers.
Lisa lives on the north shore of Lake Tahoe with her two daughters (three, if you count their dog). She enjoys spending time in the beautiful outdoors with her family, hiking, swimming, and skiing.
Jack Ekin, PhD, BFA™
Jack is an award-winning PhD physics graduate of Cornell University, with many decades experience in “number crunching” at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Boulder, CO. With a scientist’s approach, he doesn’t believe anything until he has thoroughly tested it. This includes most forms of alternative investments and over 30 years of experience with real-estate investments and management.
Then, through Lisa, he discovered the freedom from stress and worry, and greater long-term returns of having most of your wealth in a diversified portfolio of stocks. This works, however, only if coupled with the power of discipline. He passed the Series 65 investment law exam and became certified as a BFA™ (Behavioral Financial Advisor) because he earnestly wanted to combine his 51 years of investment experience with effective financial planning to help spare others from the school of hard knocks that he experienced in his early investment career.
From a personal standpoint, Jack thoroughly enjoys counseling clients and answering questions about the retirement-transition process (especially since he’s gone through the transition twice and loved it each time). He lives with his wife, Sharon, at Lake Tahoe, close to his two daughters’ families with four grandchildren. His greatest joy in life is his family. He also delights in active sports in the Tahoe region (favorites are kiteboarding, tennis, pickleball, skiing, and chasing the grandkids).
